Spiritual Initiation Through Fire & Smoke: Living From The Sacred Heart

This morning I went to make my bed & felt a strong call to smudge with sage. So I listened.

I smudged my entire space - top to bottom, left to right. Took my time, paying careful attention to nooks and crannies that could easily be overlooked.

I put the sage back in its abalone in a way that allows it to naturally and immediately stop burning. I went downstairs to make coffee and within a few minutes I notice the pungent smell of sage (which never happens when I smudge upstairs).

I thought to myself “that’s weird” so I go up to check & walk in to a room filled with smoke. The sage was ripping and running - completely burnt to the stem.

After the relief that there wasn’t a rouge ash that had somehow caught, I had a good laugh. Clearly I hadn’t smudged as thoroughly as I thought!

Spirit had other plans, and whatever energy needed the smokey TLC, got it. 😜

Fire is so incredibly ancient and sacred - a conversation that goes beyond the scope of this writing.

But let me say this…

It fuels human existence in every. single. way. Mostly everything you do here on Earth is due to (a secondary process of) heat or combustion. The primary process that precedes this, is that of our Sun.

That big, beautiful ball of fire in the sky fuels ALL LIFE on this planet. Without it, life here, would not go on.

This same Holy Fire fuels life from within. The Sacred Heart is always burning.

Desiring. Living. Loving.

Leaving a smokey trail of your doing throughout all of space and time.

Every thought, every action; has the potential to burn bright & be the cleansing smoke that heals the world.

But with misuse or misunderstanding, this great force can cause so much damage & destruction.

Thank you Holy Fire.

May you humble me with your brilliance.

May you burn away all that I do not need.

May you create space for only that which is Good within me.

Thank you Holy Smoke.

May you remind me that my actions matter.

May you support me in leaving a cloud of purity for the next to come.

And when the smoke subsides, may it give way to nothing but Love.
